Primary Source Set: asian american voices and activism

 

Our “Voices and Activism” primary source sets highlight personal stories and diverse activism within the LGBTQ community. They explore topics including the intersections of race and sexuality, building solidarity within queer community, the need to preserve and teach queer history related to people of color, and moments of joy and love.  The sources selected here document the lives of Asian American queer people.

M.J. Talbot Video and Audio Recordings. Activist Michael James (M.J.) Talbot was one of the founders of the Gay Asian Pacific Alliance and GAPA Community HIV Project. The recordings include interviews about HIV/AIDS services, the experiences of gay Asian Americans, and videos of GAPA events.
