HEALTH & SAFETY
We are determined to maintain a welcoming, accessible environment for all visitors while continuing to support those in our community who are immunocompromised or at higher risk.
Safety Measures
If you are coughing, sneezing, have a fever or feel unwell, please stay home and visit us when you are feeling better. If you have already purchased tickets, we are happy to issue you a refund.
We have recently updated our masking policy to align with current city and state public health guidelines and with practices at similar institutions throughout the Bay Area.
Effective August 18, masks are highly recommended but not required during public visiting hours, with the following exceptions: Sundays & the first Wednesday of every month* (our monthly free admission day).
*On these designated days, masks will be required for all visitors and staff during regular visiting hours.
Complimentary masks and hand sanitizer will remain available at the museum entrance for anyone who wishes to use them during their visit.
Special Events: For all special events at the Museum, masks will be highly recommended but not required, unless otherwise specified in the event listing or in pre-event communications.
All staff and volunteers have been vaccinated for COVID-19. We will continue to monitor public health guidance and adjust our policies as necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Please note: We are unable to store personal belongings, so we suggest keeping those to a minimum. No food or drinks are permitted in the museum.
Vaccinations
As of June 1, 2023, visitors to the museum and archives reading room are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated, but proof of vaccination is no longer required.
