In celebration of American Archives Month this October, the GLBT Historical Society is participating in the Third San Francisco Archives Crawl. This annual gathering celebrates Bay Area archives and encourages guests to explore and engage with institutions that collect, preserve and provide access to archival material. This year’s event, whose theme is “The Histories of California in 10 Objects,” will be held at two locations: the California Historical Society in SoMa and the Labor Archives and Research Center at San Francisco State University. Archivists representing 12 Bay Area institutions will be on hand, enabling guests learn about these institutions, find out more about what archives are and what archivists do, and view selected archival materials close up. The event is free to the public. More information is available here.
