No Apologies T-Shirt
On May 21, 1979, protesters rioted after a jury found the assassin of Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone, Dan White, guilty of manslaughter instead of murder. Damage from the event, dubbed the “White Night Riot,” included many broken windows at City Hall and a dozen torched police cars. Police attacks on Castro Street bars left many injured. Some members of the LGBT community wanted to apologize and raise funds for repairs, while others took the position that there should be no apologies. T-shirts with this design were sold to fund the legal defense of protesters arrested during the riot.
