Passionate Struggle
Dynamics of San Francisco's GLBT History

Donate

For many years people have spoken of the need for a larger presence of the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco’s cultural landscape and beyond. “There should be a gay museum” is what we are often told.

This is the moment we have waited for all these years. It is our opportunity not only to meet the enormous interest generated by the MILK film, but to take a large step toward building GLBT history museum.

We anticipate that thousands of people will visit our galleries seeking more information on Harvey Milk and San Francisco’s GLBT community. Many more, perhaps millions, will search the internet looking for the facts behind the film. Responding to this surge in interest is a profound challenge and opportunity for our little institution.

Our board and advisory groups include numerous historians who have literally written the book on San Francisco’s GLBT history.

To organize the exhibit we need to raise at least $160,000. Much of these funds will come from individuals because grants and corporate support often require more time then we have. Please consider donating today to help create a home for our history!
