Michael Nava is the author of the Henry Rios novels, a series of seven mysteries that followed the life and adventures of gay criminal defense lawyer, Henry Rios. He is also co-author, with Professor Robert Dawidoff of Created Equal: Why Gay Rights Matter to America. He is the recipient of six Lambda Literary Awards, the Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement in Gay and Lesbian Literature, and a literary fellow from the California Arts Council, among other awards.
