Thanks to Hank:
A Celebration of the Life and Work of Hank Wilson
San Francisco, CA – October 29, 2008 - The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Historical Society is sponsoring "Thanks to Hank," a memorial celebration for "activist's activist" Hank Wilson on Saturday, December 6, at the Eureka Valley Recreation Center at 100 Collingwood St. (at 18th St.), in the Castro neighborhood, from 2:30 to 5:00 PM.
Wilson died of lung cancer November 9. His 35 years of community service and activism -- for LGBT people, people with HIV, poor people and others -- touched many people and planted seeds that grew into many of the organizations that serve our city today.
A "Thanks to Hank" fair will feature various organizations showing tangible displays of Hank's contributions. Individuals will be encouraged to participate in the fair by expressing gratitude in writing, by recording a "Thanks to Hank" message on video, or in other imaginative ways.
