PAST PRIDE:
Open Archives Pride Party at GLBT Historical Society

SAN FRANCISCO—On Tuesday, June 20, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Historical Society opens its archives doors to the community for “Past Pride,” a special Pride month party showcasing the queer past. At the event, which is free and open to the public, Executive Director Terence Kissack will be showing guests historical artifacts from past GLBT Freedom Day events as well as other rare treasures from the Historical Society’s world-class archive.

“June’s a particularly great time to be proud of our history,” said Kissack. “We invite our old and new friends to bring neighbors, loved ones, and strangers off the street to the party. The event is our way of saying thanks to members, volunteers, and donors for making the GLBT Historical Society the home for the queer community’s history. It’s going to be a gathering, commemoration, and celebration all rolled together.”

“Past Pride” is an event for everyone. In addition to special Pride artifacts display and behind-the-scenes archive tours, guest will enjoy complimentary food, drink, and admission to the exhibits, including the brand-new “Capturing the Moment: The Photojournalism of Rick Gerharter,” and our successful extended-run “Sporting Life: GLBT Athletics and Cultural Change from the 1960s to Today.”
